SiteMeter

So, since there are so incredibly many visits on my blog, I decided to add a site meter. You can see it in the bottom left corner on the site, and it counts you! But fear not! It doesn't hurt, as the little baby goat said in the old fairy tale. You know what? If you click on the link, you will actually see all the statistic of this blog. Until I change the privacy level. But why would I? Do I have anything to hide?

Got gas?

Aparently there are alot of people out there with too much spare time in their hands, so it is a good thing we have the Internet to help us out. And what is better to do when you are bored than complain. Back in the old days, people went to visit eachother, sat down with a cup of coffee and complained to eachoter. Then the phone got installed, and bored housewifes did not leave the house in order to complain, they could just call the neighbour and complain for hours.

Since the Internet is taking over most of the traditional functions, it is only natural that people can complain here too. A great thing to complain about is the gas prices. Why is this? Because gas is something we really need in our lives. We can't do much without gas. And when gas prices raise, it is like charging the fish for the water it is swimming in. Outrageous! What is even worse? We all know who get the money. It is the rich oil companies, and why would you want to give more money to somebody that are already so rich they are wiping their ass with 10 dollar bills?

So let's complain. But where? HERE! http://townhall-talk.edmunds.com/WebX?displayRecent@669.gTDVcWzSbva.0@.ee92e66

Yet another useless webpage was brought to you by Arne And

My wishlist

Does not contain "Pampers Swaddlers Diapers, Size N (Up to 10 lbs), Sesame Street, Jumbo, Bonus , 40 diapers". But somebody's does. Actually a lot of people's wishlist does. As you probably have figured out by now, I am a little tired from studying, so I needed a little break of useless internet surfing (I have been ocean surfing today too, just so you don't think I spend ALL my life on this computer - just most of it), and I stopped by Amazon.com to see what was in store. Their site is full of usefull functions and services, among other things, the wishlist. And since most people have more than what they need and even more than that, they don't really know what they should wish for. Amazon.com solved this by adding a "These are items that have been added most often to Wish Lists" service - updated daily. (Wanna check it out? Try this link: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/zg/-/03/ref=pd_zg_cam_rt_mw/103-4124356-4258248). So that you and me can get some hints for what we should put in our wish lists. Today - April 29th, the Health & Personal Care category included as I said: Pampers Swaddlers Diapers. Amazing. I am checking back tomorrow to see if 20 gallons of Premium 91 octane Gas is on the wishlist. That's what I would wish for - if I had a car. Specially with the gas prices they have around here. I have something else to tell you about gas prices. See the next post. - That is, the next post that will be posted after this post, so you will find this above this post, since this is a blog, with the most recent postings on top. I guess you probably could figure this out on your own, I just wanted to help you out, that's all.

Aattschoo! -Bless you...

So what is this about anyways?? I am sitting in a computer lab, sneezing, and the person next to me, automatic, without even moving utters: "Bless you". And then, in a lecture, I sneez again. The professor stops in the middle of a sentence - "Bless you" - again without caring who or how, before they continue on with their scheduled agenda.

Don't you agree that a good sneez is infact pretty good. It starts as this funny tickeling in your nose, "a-a-a...
and ends in a big old "ttschooo!". My grandfather can't get enough of them - he can sneez 7 times in a row - to my grandmothers great frustration.

I am just a two-time sneezer. Some people sneez more, some sneez less. So I am sitting at the library, next to this person I have never in the world seen before, and probably won't see again. I am reading this extremly dry book about some theoretical proofs of some... -Then it comes! I can feel it, it's building up. "ATSCHOOOOOoooo..." Puh! And I have another one coming! Great! Then the person next to me: "Blessyou...". Monotoy and dull as the book he is reading. How can I sneez a second time after that??? He broke it. No more sneezing for me in the library.

Ok, so they want to bless me. Shouldn't they be a little more enthusiastic? Shouldn't they at least look at the person they are blessing? And if they really are so eager to bless people, why do they need a sneez as a magic trigger-word?

Don't get me wrong, I don't have anything against being blessed, but I don't like when it is done this way. If you want to bless me, do it properly. I am sure there's alot of atests walking around and blessing people. So where does it come from? Who started it??

This is two links I found:
http://www.straightdope.com/mailbag/mgesundheit.html
http://www.snopes.com/language/phrases/blessyou.htm
And Google knows more:
http://www.google.com/search?q=sneeze+bless+you&btnG=Search
So, I am not supersticious. I am not afraid of my heart stopping when sneezing, I am more afraid of my heart stopping when I am sleeping! I don't think the human body is created with a bug, we are immune against the devil, -EXCEPT when we sneeze. So stop bugging me! Let me sneeze alone! I hope I will sneeze on Saturday...

----

And finally something totally off topic: Artificial word-of-mouth marketing by sneeze.com http://www.sneezemarketing.com/sneeze_brochure.pdf.

What happened to the Picture of the day???

So... Seems I have some technical difficulties with my Hello, the supporting program I use to publish pictures to this blog. I have also been busy with midterms - this school is just taking up all of my free time, I gotta stop soon!

Anyways, I will try to get it working over the weekend, since I have nothing better to do. Maybe I will even tell you what was wrong, if it is something that others might find useful.

Disapointing opera

As I told you, the CEO of Opera promised to swim to America if the new Opera version was downloaded more than 1 millon times in four days. It was downloaded 1 050 000 times ~ roughly, according to the Opera site.

So, the CEO had to swim. Opera made a big story about it, which you can read here. The 2nd day they were already tired of the story, and made a quick stop to the adventourus trip. The supporting raft deflated, and they called off the whole deal. Extremely disapointing end of the story. It was not even funny. I had expected more from a company like that, I think I will switch to Internet Explorer.

Strawberry banana milkshake Posted by Hello

"Already?" say you. "Yes" say I.

I went to the farmers market today, but of course I forgot my camera, so the picture of the day is of me pouring my milkshake. Made from fresh farmers market strawberries - (well actually Albertsons strawberries, because I had to finish them before they went bad) - bananas and vanilla ice cream! Tastes GOOOOOOD!!!

And by the way - I got fresh farmers market strawberries, and I made strawberries and bread, with sugar. Tasted just when I was a mocoso and got the same treat from my grandmother on the beach. The only thing that missed was the sun-warm coke with sand grains in the cap.

This is me at the climbing wall. My hands were totally messed up after years of keyboard use - they were not used to rough treatment like the holds in the wall. I wanted to take a picture, but it did not look nearly as bad as it felt, so this image have to do. Me and the wall. Notice the beard. Posted by Hello

This is how I look after a hard week, ending with a midterm and 7 hours at the lab. Oh no! It is not over! I have to implement a closest pair algorithm over the weekend. Sonds like fun no? Posted by Hello

Opera!

Do you know Opera? Not the singing one, the web browser. (If you cannot figure out what I am talking about, click here). Anyways, the Opera CEO promised to swim to USA if the new version of Opera reaches 1 million (1.000.000) downloads within the first 96 hours of it's launch (The press release). Still here??? Go to Opera's download page and make the guy swim!

In case you wondered, Opera is a Norwegian based company, not too far from USA, but pretty far when you have to swim. Opera creates the worlds fastest and most secure browser on earth. That is - according to Opera...

Make him swim:
